Hey everybody.
I'm new here, so I'm going to start with the stupid question (I guess as a newbie I'm entitle to at least one)
I have old Gateway notebook, so I'm about to install Linux on it, just for kicks. I understand, the biggest problem is going to be - drivers for "non-standard" hardware inside that box.
So, is there place in the internet, where people start to look for drivers ?
Thank you _________________ :-] |

I imagine you've probably already solved this long ago, but for anyone else who comes looking, here is my answer.
When you have a piece of hardware that Linux can't pick up on its own, first check its manufacturer's website for a Linux specific driver. Not many do this, but it's always best to have an official driver.
If there's nothing on that front, then you might try http://www.linux-drivers.org, which is a repository of great information about official and unofficial drivers.
And last, but not least, for the truly hardcore you can always look at the available non-Linux version of the driver and try to code your own:
