Hello, I have just finished reading a thread about Windows 7 creating it's own partition and in order to create custom partitions you would have turn off AHCI in the BIOS.
I actually plan to install Linux and my second hard drive which should make it a cleaner dual boot. In the meantime can anyone explain what AHCI stands for. Any other precautions I should consider. I will have the option to use Vista Business addition or Windows 7 Home Premium. Which one would be less troublesome.?

Actually, Linux can use AHCI without any trouble at all, as long as it is a current Distro, so you should have no trouble with either Vista or Windows 7. AHCI is the Advanced Hardware Control Interface, which adds native SATA functionality to motherboards. Windows XP does not support AHCI natively, but every OS since Vista DOES support it natively. _________________ Tim Childree
